FAQs

There’s a lot of questions around Pilates, what classes we offer and what you need to bring to get the most out of your class.

Hopefully we’ve answered the questions you have below, but if not, please get in touch.

Do you teach yoga too?

Yes! I did my 200 hour Yoga training with Yoga Medicine in 2018 and love the way Yoga and Pilates complement each other!

What's the difference/benefits between mat pilates and apparatus pilates?

Mat pilates is taken just on a mat on the floor with small pieces of apparatus (magic circle, straps, balls etc) whereas the apparatus pilates uses much larger pieces of kit (reformer, Cadillac, Wunda chair, barrels etc!) using springs as resistance for strength and stability. The springs help to guide and support you as well as challenging you where you need to be challenged!

I've done pilates before but not with you. Do I need to do a private lesson to join a group class?

I would recommend that you have just one private lesson with me before starting a group class. It really helps me as your teacher understand your strengths, weaknesses and what your goals are, but if you just want to jump into a class, feel free to do that!

Is there a bus stop close to the studio?

Yes, the A bus that runs all the way from Prodains lift station to Morzine centre stops right outside The Hive, making it incredibly easy to get to the studio from either Morzine or Avoriaz!

Can I do pilates with an injury?

Depending on the severity and how recent your injury is, yes. But it is best to either book a private lesson or have a chat with your teacher first before booking.

How often should I do pilates to feel the benefits?

If you are looking for progression, once a week is the bare minimum. Twice a week is optimum, and you will really see and feel the benefits. If you love it as much as I do, you can practice up to 5/6 times a week!

I'm an avid sports enthusiast/pro, will pilates help with my chosen sport?

Absolutely! There are so many pro athletes who get huge benefits from Pilates - Kelly Slater and Andy Murray to name just a few! Pilates really helps reduce the risk of injury too especially if you are training a lot.

I'm not flexible at all, can I do pilates?

Yes! You gain better movement, strength and flexibility by doing pilates! Lets get you moving and more flexible!

How do I book a lesson with you?

You can book online or get in touch with me via email and we can create a programme to work for you.

What should I bring to my Pilates class (online and studio)?

Studio: If you are coming to the studio, I will provide all apparatus for you to use. If you would prefer to bring your own mat or small pieces of apparatus because of COVID19, please feel free to do so. The equipment is cleaned and disinfected before and after every person uses it. If you prefer to wear socks, I would recommend wearing some grippy socks, but apart from that, just wear something comfortable that you are ready to move in!

Home/ chalet visit: I will bring all equipment with me so just wear something comfortable that you are ready to move in!

Online: You will need a mat, magic circle or strap, and a cushion or block. Please see more information on products I recommend on my ‘Online’ page. And just wear something comfortable that you are ready to move in!

How long is a pilates lesson?

Classes vary in time length so make sure you check before you book!

Is the apparatus only for advanced people?

Absolutely not! The apparatus is for complete beginners to super advanced clients. We all need different guidance, support and challenges and the apparatus is for all, whatever level you are!

I'm pregnant or have recently given birth, can I do pilates?

Absolutely, but please get in touch before booking so I am aware and so that we can create the best course of action for you throughout the whole pregnancy.

I would like a lesson in French. Is this possible?

Yes! I can teach Pilates in French as well as English and I try my best to develop my French all the time to create the best experience for French speakers coming to my classes.

Is there parking at the studio?

Yes there is parking around ‘The Hive’ and also along the Route d’Avoriaz if the parking is full.

Do you do packages/block lessons?

Yes, please see package options on my booking system or contact me for more info!
